VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) –  A corn field fire in Barnes County caused the closure of North Dakota Highway 1 at mile marker 57-58 for approximately 30 to 60 minutes on Thursday, November 13th.

The Barnes County Sheriff’s Office issued the road closure due to heavy smoke causing reduced visibility.

Sheriff’s deputies say the fire started in an un-harvested corn field. The cause of the fire was not released.
