MINOT – Minot State took its third win in four meetings so far this season against Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey Saturday with a 2-1 triumph at Maysa Arena.
All of those games have been tight. Two of the Beavers’ wins have been by one goal, with the other by two goals. The Jimmies’ victory was in overtime.
Sheldin Howard scored on the power play at 10:25 of the second period for a 1-0 lead for third-ranked Minot State (12-1-1-0).
Joey Moffatt doubled the Beavers’ lead with a power play goal at 2:33 of the third period.
Jamestown (10-8-1-0) came within a goal when Darius Makse scored his second goal this season, also on the power play, at 7:55 of the third period, assisted by Raymond Warrack and Jordan Baranesky.
Minot State had a 27-14 advantage in shots on goal. Jimmies’ goalie Brandon Weare made 25 saves. The Jimmies were 1-for-4 on the power play and the Beavers were 2-for-6.
UJ will take part in the ACHA Chicago Classic November 21-23 in Romeoville, Illinois. Jamestown will play Ohio University on Friday.
