JAMESTOWN – Fourth-ranked Minot State scored four times in the first period Saturday and completed a weekend sweep of Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Women’s Hockey with a 5-3 win at Wilson Arena.
Kaitlyn Snyder, Kinley Brassard, Abby Tallman and Krissy Rink all scored in the opening frame as the Beavers (6-2-1-5) led 4-0 with just over two minutes left in the first period.
Maddison Andrew scored her first goal of this season unassisted with 42 seconds to go in the opening 20 minutes for the Jimmies (4-9-0-1), then scored again 2:41 into the second, assisted by Samantha Beaulac.
Olivia Kirwan restored the three-goal lead for Minot State at 14:41 of the second period.
Emma Durand scored her fifth for the Jimmies with 34 seconds to play in the game.
Minot State outshot Jamestown 36-21 and scored on their only power play. UJ was 0-for-3. Lilah Drew made nine saves in the Jimmie net, but was pulled after MSU’s fourth goal in the first period. Madelynne Sylvestre played the rest of the game and stopped 22 of 23 shots.
Jamestown will host Liberty on Sunday, November 23 at 10:00 AM at Wilson Arena.
