VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley Troubadours, will launching their 2025 Christmas concert season with a performance at the Lone Oak Farm Event Venue in Ayr, North Dakota on Friday Dec, 5. This will be a first-time performance for the group in this area. Tickets for that show can be purchased at Eventbrite.com or by calling the venue.
That performance will include a performance by the Deep State Brass Ensemble. “Christmas music, is my favorite kind of music, it is simply beautiful” states John Monilaws, the Maestro for the Troubadours, “every piece tells a story – why not come out?” It’s an impressive set list that spans genre and time periods, with tunes like Ding Dong Merrily on High to classics like Santa Claus is coming to Town. Monilaws is confident there’s something that everyone can enjoy. “I like to choose selections that I think everyone in the audience will enjoy” Monilaws said. “I think there’s enough variety there, whether it’s sacred, secular, country, everyone should have a pretty good flavor of Christmas when they leave our programs.” His own favorite of the set list is “All is Peace”, A simple yet beautiful arrangement of Silent Night, the grand carol of them all states Monilaws”.
The Troubadours are an all-male chorus who gather weekly to rehearse and have been preparing for these concerts since autumn. The group starts rehearsing right away in the fall. The group rehearses every Monday night and a lot of work goes into it, a lot of dedication, a lot of people rearranging their schedules, (the hard work) is greatly appreciated by the Maestro.
The Troubadours concert season is just getting started and will span a good chunk of the holiday season with performances kicking off December 5th at the Lone Oak Venue. The groups home concert will be Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Valley City Connect Church at 7 pm. A free will offering will be taken at this event. On Monday, Dec. 15 the Troubadours invite the community to join them in sharing the sounds of the Christmas season, at 7 p.m. at the Barnes County Courthouse. Refreshments will be served. Lastly, a special performance will wrap up the Troubadours Holiday Concert Series at SMP-St. Raphael’s in Valley City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
The Valley City events are free and open to the public with all welcome, and encouraged, to attend.
