JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Community Foundation recently awarded a $1,500 grant to the Jamestown Frontier Village towards the development of a new Farmstead Interactive Area just inside the entry on the south side. This project will be an area for all ages to learn how the pioneers of this state operated on their farmsteads, via play and interactive elements. There will be a homestead themed building, a Re-Circulating milking cow, a well with a bucket, as well as a pioneer themed windmill slide. The proceeds of this grant will be used to purchase supplies needed to build parts of the new play area.
The Farmstead project will have several levels of community involvement in its development, including the Lions Club and the Kiwanis Club sponsorships along with other community organizations’ support. The Village sees upwards of 10,000 visitors per week, especially during the summer months, and with the ability to market this new project, the Village board of directors hopes to see even more growth in visitation. The Frontier Village attracts guests from all 50 states and 7 Canadian provinces, plus the local residents of Jamestown. This new, unique learning opportunity will provide yet another reason for people to spend more time when visiting the site.
If you have interest in volunteering at the Frontier Village for one of their special clean-up days, please contact Jamestown Tourism at 701-251-9145 or check out their Facebook page for more information about all of their activities.
