
BISMARCK (NewsDakota)- Perhaps there were nerves early, but when a team is having fun, that can typically calm those nerves. And right now nobody is having more fun than Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier volleyball.
The fourth-seeded Rebels swept aside fifth-seeded Flasher (25-19, 25-15, 25-15) to advance to their first state tournament win as a co-op to advance to Friday’s semifinal.
Great balance by the Rebels (27-11), led by eleven kills from Kalyn Klusmann, allowed for E/K/M to take control of the first set on the serve of Betsy Huber, who had a seven-point run to win the first set. The second set was led by great serving from Elli Lloyd, who had a six-point run while Mazie Tjernlund creating great hitting with superb setting.
The third set was dominated by the Rebels, who shut down the Bulldogs (31-6-1) offense, as Flasher only had four players with kills, led by Chaskee Schmidt’s eleven kills.
The Rebels advance to face (1) Langdon Area/Munich with coverage on KDDR The Tornado on Friday with coverage beginning at approximately 10:45am.
