ROMEOVILLE, IL – Two quick strikes ended a losing streak for Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey.

Matthew McIntyre and Carson Brown scored the tying and go-ahead goals just 23 seconds apart late in the first period Friday as the ninth-ranked Jimmies held off second-ranked Ohio University 2-1 in the Jimmies’ first of three games in the Chicago Classic at Canlan Sports-Romeoville.

Jamestown (11-7-1-0) ended a four-game losing streak and also was boosted by 30 saves from goalie Brandon Weare, including 24 combined in the second and third periods.

Ohio (15-2-0-0) scored first with a power play tally by Drake Nabozny at 10:21 of the first period.

Then, Alex Erichuk and Cole Christensson set up the tying goal by McIntyre at 18:19.  At 18:42, Brown scored the decider, assisted by Brad Fortin and Caleb Percival.

Jamestown went o-for-4 on the power play, but killed off seven of eight Ohio player advantages.

On Saturday, the Jimmies will play seventh-ranked Drury.
