
BILLINGS, MT – After two home wins, the reality that can happen on the road hit Jamestown Jimmies Women’s Basketball on Friday.
Jamestown was held to only 18 first-half points and 35 percent shooting while committing 24 turnovers in a 72-56 loss to Montana St.-Billings at Alterowitz Gymnasium.
The Jimmies (2-1) didn’t score for the first 3:07 and trailed 21-10 after one quarter as Kyla Momberg scored six for MSU-Billings (3-4).
After a three-pointer late in the first quarter by Daviney Dreckman, UJ was scoreless for over seven minutes and MSU-Billings cruised to a 37-18 halftime lead. The Jimmies made only five-of-24 shots in the first half.
MSU-Billings led by as many as 33 in the third quarter before Jamestown had a 23-8 fourth quarter scoring advantage.
Cassie Chesnut led the Yellowjackets with 12 points and seven rebounds. Momberg and Katelyn Hamilton each scored 11 points.
Dreckman was the Jimmies’ lone double-figure scorer, pouring in 13 with three three-pointers. Allie Berns was held to nine points after totaling 48 in her first two collegiate games. Haidyn Crockett and Julia Thoms each scored eight.
In Billings on Saturday, Jamestown will face Simon Fraser University.
