VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Public Schools (VCPS) winter weather plans for the school year.
Superintendent Josh Johnson said our school district will continue to share weather related decisions with staff and parents using several modes of communications.  This includes our phone alert system (call and/or text), email, social media, and local media (radio at KOVC 1490AM).  If you still need assistance with the phone alert system, please call our district offices at 701.845.0483 ext. 0.  We will do everything possible to make a decision prior to 6:30 AM if school will be cancelled or delayed.  If you don’t hear from us, you can assume that school, activities, etc. are scheduled as normal.
School Cancellations, Delays, or Early Releases- When we use make up days and other options?
We will not make-up school for the first day or up to 7 hours missed because of winter weather.  After the first cancellation or 7 hours, we will use our two make-up dates on the school calendar (May 1 and 22).  If we miss more than three days of school or an equivalent of 21 school hours, we will consider other options such as adding make-up days, extending the school day, or having a virtual learning school day.  Please know that we will communicate these other options, as necessary, throughout the winter.
Activities- Practices and Games (Including Elementary Programs)
Any weather-related changes to activities will be communicated as soon as possible with students and parents.  If school is cancelled or dismissed early due to weather, there will be no after school activities.  If school is delayed (late start), there will be no morning activities.
If you have any questions about our winter weather plans, feel free to contact us at our district office at 701.845.0483.  We would like to remind parents that if you do not believe weather conditions are safe for your travels, you have the right to keep your children at home without grade or attendance consequences from the school.
