JAMESTOWN – A power play goal on a five-minute major turned out to be the difference Wednesday as 11th-ranked UMary defeated seventh-ranked Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey 3-2 at Wilson Arena.

Dain Sardelli scored at 1:56 of the third period to give UMary (12-6-0-0) a 3-1 lead.  Raymond Warrack of Jamestown (12-10-1-0) had been given a five-minute major and a game misconduct late in the second period and Sardelli scored on the five-minute man advantage.

Trey Stephenson brought the Jimmies to within 3-2 at 5:02 of the third period with a power play goal.  It was Stephenson’s second of the season, assisted by Kaleb Percival and Jordan Baranesky.

UMary broke a scoreless tie with second period goals by Palmer Sinclair and Joe Gronholz.  Kaelan Shelton scored a shorthanded goal for Jamestown with five seconds left in the middle period.

Jamestown lost despite a 41-33 shot on goal edge.  Brandon Weare made 30 saves in net for UJ.

The Jimmies will host Minot State on Wednesday, December 10 at 7:00 PM at Wilson Arena.
