
MINOT – Three third period goals broke open a tight game Thursday as Minot United raced to a 6-1 win over Jamestown Blue Jays Boys Hockey at MAYSA Arena.
Jamestown (1-2-0-0, 1-1-0-0 WDA) pulled to within 2-1 when John Belzer scored his second goal this season, assisted by Parker Roelfsema and Bennett Goehner, at 13:05 of the second period. Minot United (3-2-0-0, 2-0-0-0) used an Oliver Thompson goal just 2:10 lead for a 3-1 lead after 34 minutes.
In the third period, Landin Slind scored twice and Tate Haugenoe added the final tally for the five-goal win for Minot United.
Nick Christopher and Michael Ell had scored to give Minot United a 2-0 lead after one period.
Jamestown was outshot 38-16. Goalie Leif Hanson of the Blue Jays made 32 saves.
The Blue Jays will play a non-conference game Tuesday at Grafton/Park River.
