JAMESTOWN – Two wins and several other placings highlighted the work for Jamestown Blue Jays Wrestling in the teams’ season opener, the Knights of Columbus Invitational, Saturday at Jerry Meyer Arena.
Keagan Maragos and Ryker Stoddart earned wins for the Blue Jay boys. Maragos had three pins and a major decision in winning at 145 pounds. Stoddart had a pin and two decisions for his 152-pound victory.
Cole Anderson and Caden Lanwe had third- and fourth-place finishes respectively at 133 pounds. Eli Sankey was fourth at 215 pounds.
Jamestown’s boys were seventh of eight teams with 89 points. Central Cass won the event with 182.5.
Mackenzie Stoddart (136) pounds and Lauren Alexander (190) were runners-up for the Jamestown girls in their weight classes. Harper Wolff was third at 118 pounds and Ashlyn Lee was third at 155. Ellie Guerra (142) and Hope Miller (170) won fourth places.
Jamestown was fifth of nine teams with 91 points. Grand Forks won with 169.5.
Both teams will wrestle in duals Thursday at Mandan.
