
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Another decisive win should make the holidays happier for Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Women’s Hockey.
After blowing out Minnesota 9-3 on Friday night, the 10th-ranked Jimmies had another great skate Saturday, winning 7-1 at Ridder Arena.
Seven different players scored for Jamestown (6-9-0-2), starting with Mikela Nimitz, who scored her first goal since last January only 52 seconds into the game. Nimitz has four goals as a Jimmie and all of them have been against Minnesota. She had a had trick against the Gophers, also in Minneapolis, on January 18.
Late in the first period, the rout was on again after two goals were separated by only 41 seconds. Kelsey Amick scored her third from Samantha Beaulac at 19:07 and Bethany Wielgosh popped in her third, assisted by Mallory Docktor, at 19:48. Jamestown led 3-0 after 20 minutes.
Rebekah Nickisch extended the UJ lead to 4-0 at 2:33 of the second period, set up by Emma Durand and Wielgosh. It was her fifth this season. Beaulac scored her fourth at 14:31 and Jayden Baker tallied her third at 16:37 and the Jimmies were 6-0 ahead through two.
Gabriella Schroder’s fourth goal, assisted by Durand and Nimetz, gave Jamestown a 7-0 lead 2:10 into the third period.
Kate Hill scored just under seven minutes later for the only goal for Minnesota (2-17-1-0).
The Jimmies again badly outshot the Gophers, 62-11 this time. Goalie Britlyn Rasmussen, in her first career start, made 10 saves.
Jamestown will return to action on Friday, January 9 at Minot State.
