CARRINGTON (NewsDakota)- Sometimes, two really good basketball teams get together and give such great effort that the game can get a little messy.  And that is exactly what happened Monday night in Carrington.

The Benson County Wildcats extended their winning streak to ten with a 34-33 win over Carrington on Monday night inside the East Gym at Carrington High School.

The opening minutes delivered four ties and three lead changes before an 8-0 run by Benson County (6-0) propelled Class B’s top team to a 17-9 lead.  But the Cards (1-2) responded with a three by Kodi Thiel and terrific defense in trailing at the break 23-18.

The second half ground to a near halt, as Marah Johnson scored five of her game-high 13 points in the third quarter, while Wildcats guard Aubrey Kenner could not shake the defense and ended with just eight points.  In the final minute, Carrington had two possessions to win the game, but the Wildcats had fouls to give and used them wisely in surviving despite scoring 31 points less than their season average (65.6).
