JAMESTOWN – Facing a tough draw at the start of the 2025-26 WDA basketball schedules, the Jamestown Blue Jays found themselves overwhelmed.
Century’s girls, a 2025 state finalist, ran past Jamestown 90-28 on Tuesday at Jerry Meyer Arena. The top-ranked and defending state champion Patriot boys did the same to the Blue Jays, winning 111-49.
Girls: Century 90, Jamestown 28
Trapping and pressing defense by Century (4-0, 1-0 WDA) fouled up Jamestown (2-2, 0-1) from the very start of the game. 15 turnovers from the Blue Jays resulted as the Patriots gradually increased their lead, helped by 67 percent shooting overall and 13-of-16 on three-pointers.
Freshman Kinley Thorton led Century with 13 points, one of five players in double figures. Haley Attleson paced Jamestown with 13 and sank three three-pointers.
Boys: Century 111, Jamestown 49
As Century (4-0, 1-0 WDA) won for the 20th straight time, the Patriots quickly moved to a 16-2 lead, with 11 of those points coming from Gibson Kinnebrew, who led Century with 26 points. Camden Kraemer scored 24.
Edison Walters had 20 for Jamestown (2-2, 0-1), who couldn’t overcome 24 turnovers and who were without the services of forward Eric Van Berkom.
Both Jamestown teams will play their final games before the holidays Thursday at Mandan.
