JAMESTOWN, N.D. (PPR) – When Mark Watne was president of the North Dakota Farmers’ Union, one of his top-of-mind concerns was suicide in farm country.

Watne says he remains concerned about it. He says in North Dakota, it hasn’t been quite as dramatic as it has been in some other states.

Watne served as the organization’s president from 2013 to 2025.
