CARRINGTON (NewsDakota)- Region 2A play began on Friday with a big win for the Carrington girls, while the Carrington boys improved drastically from the opener, but fell to the Thompson Tommies inside the East Gym.
GIRLS: Carrington 54 Thompson 46
Sophomore Aniston Hoornaert scored 17 of her game-high 19 points after halftime, and the Cards (2-2, 1-0) only trailed once in the whole game in defeating the Tommies (3-2, 2-1). Harper Kollman added ten of her twelve points after the break, as Carrington pulled away in the third quarter for the win. Addy Sage led Thompson with 18 points.

Noah Hippen led all scorers with 18 points and the Tommies (2-1, 2-0) never trailed in picking up their second straight win. The Tommies led by nine early before Carrington (0-2, 0-3) made a run to cut the lead to 25-21 behind good play from Alec Threadgold (14 points) and Maddox McIlonie (12 points). But a 9-0 run lifted the lead to double digits and Thompson answered each run by the Cards thereafter.
