The Carrington basketball teams each took their opening games at the 2025 Carrington Holiday Shootout, albeit in very different fashions. The Cardinal girls took a grueling 43-32 win over previously unbeaten Hazen while the Carrington boys raced to an 84-65 win over Nedrose.
GIRLS: Carrington 43 (5) Hazen 32
Aniston Hoornaert scored thirteen of her game-high fifteen after halftime and the Cardinals trailed only once, at 3-2, in picking up their third home win of the season. Maara Kutz added twelve as Carrington (3-3) pulled away after the break. Lauren Doll scored eleven for the Bison (5-1) in defeat.

A second consecutive career-high night for Maddox McIlonie (28 points) paced Carrington (1-3) to the first win of the Randy Hooey era. McIlonie scored thirteen in the second quarter after Taylen Mehring scored twelve of his 22 in the first quarter as a 10-0 run early gave Carrington a lead they would never relinquish. Jaydon Willis led Nedrose (1-3) with thirteen.
