
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Barnes County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about scam phone calls from individuals falsely claiming to be law enforcement and request money or personal information from your bank account. According to Sheriff Randy McClaflin the callers identify themselves as deputies with the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office and may leave a phone number that appears to be the Sheriff’s Office number but it is not; the number provided by these scam artists is 701-248-0401, don’t call that number it leads to an automated system and it is fraudulent.
Remember Law Enforcement agencies never request payment or sensitive information over the phone. Residents are advised to hang up immediately, especially if you are being pressured to give your personal bank account information or any request for money by a caller, please report these calls to the Barnes County Sheriff’s office 701-845-8530.
