CASS COUNTY, N.D. (CCSO) – Shortly after 4 pm on December 30, 2025, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an address in Chaffee, North Dakota, for an animal bite. The caller reported to the Red River Regional Dispatch Center that their 9-year-old child had received multiple animal bites from two dogs that entered their yard.

The Sheriff’s Office and Casselton Ambulance responded to this residence. The child was transported to a local hospital with extensive injuries. The two Rottweilers involved in this incident, did not belong to the victim’s family, and were impounded by the Sheriff’s Office. The investigation into this incident is active and ongoing.
