BISMARCK, N.D. (PPR) – North Dakota is among the states experiencing a wave of influenza cases this holiday season. Levi Schlosser is Respiratory Disease Specialist with the State Department of Health and Human Services. He says the sharp increase started about two-weeks ago.
Schlosser says despite the surge in activity, the timing is on track.
Schlosser says while the timing may be right, the intensity is the alarming part – especially when vaccination rates have been declining the past few years.
While vaccinations are considered the best way to protect yourself during the flu season, things like hand washing, covering your cough and staying home if you are not feeling well are still among the best practices.
