JAMESTOWN – University of Jamestown basketball didn’t have the return from the 2025-26 holiday break that they wanted.

Northern State swept the Jimmies in an NSIC doubleheader Saturday at Harold Newman Arena.  Jamestown’s men couldn’t recover from a difficult start and lost to the Wolves 86-77 to end a four-game winning streak.  NSU completed the sweep with a 67-58 lead over the Jimmie women in their fifth straight loss despite a career high in points by Allie Berns.

Men: Northern State 86, Jamestown 77
Jamestown (7-7, 5-3 NSIC) missed their first 13 shots, falling down 12-0, not scoring until 6 minutes and 50 seconds were played and not hitting their first field goal until 8 minutes and 6 seconds were played. Northern State (5-9, 5-3) led by 15 at halftime and by as much as 17 early in the second half until a 14-0 run brought UJ within 45-42. The Wolves controlled the game following that.

Berns’ first bucket provided Jamestown with their only points in the first 5:27 as Northern State (7-6, 3-5) started the game with an 11-2 run.

After the Jimmies were within 22-20, NSU ended the first half on a 11-2 run and led 33-22 at halftime, then by as much as 16 in the fourth quarter. Jordan Munson, playing her first game as a Jimmie, hit a layup to conclude a 15-3 run and UJ was down only 64-60 with 3:17 left. After that, Northern State hit five of their last six free throws to hang on and split the regular season series.

Megan Counts scored 17 points with six rebounds for the Wolves. Izzy Moore and Reagan Rus each had 14.

On Friday, the Jimmies will play the first of eight straight games against NSIC South opponents, meeting Augustana in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Coverage will begin at 5:00 PM on The Voice of the Jimmies, Jamestown 107.1.
