JAMESTOWN – It felt like postseason hockey on Monday night at Wilson Arena when Jamestown hosted Bismarck Century in West Region play.
Both teams came into the matchup red hot with the Patriots riding a six-game winning streak and the Blue Jays a four-game winning streak.
When the final horn sounded, the Jays skated away with a 2-1 victory.
Century struck for a quick goal as Keaton Schulte cleaned up a rebound just 77 seconds into the game for his sixth of the season.
Jamestown got the equalizer when John Belzer blasted home a goal, his fourth of the season, at the 3:41 mark of period two on a nifty feed from Bennett Goehner.
Brady Nenow scored the game winner with only 3:43 remaining in the game when he pounced on a turnover and ripped home a shot from the bottom of the right face off circle, his second of the season.
Jays goalie Leif Hanson settled down after surrendering an early goal as he stopped 26 of 27 shots.
Jamestown, 6-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play, moved into second place in the WDA with 18 points. The Patriots fall to 4-4-0-2 in the west region and 6-5-0-2 overall and currently sit in fifth place in league play.
Next up is another West Region game on Friday when Mandan comes to Wilson Arena.
