
MINOT – Once again, the game was tight. But once again, the Jimmies couldn’t solve the Beavers.
Fifth-ranked Minot State held off 10th-ranked Jamestown 2-1 in ACHA D1 Women’s Hockey Friday at All Seasons Arena. UJ is 0-2-1 against MSU this season, with both losses coming by one goal.
The teams played nearly 47 minutes of scoreless hockey before Kaitlyn Snyder scored at 6:47 of the third period for a 1-0 lead for Minot State (8-5-1-5).
At 14:35, Marlie Rutherford extended the Beaver lead to 2-0.
Jamestown (6-10-0-1) moved within a goal when Jayden Baker scored her fourth, unassisted, with 2:49 to play.
Minot State had 20 shots to Jamestown’s 15. Goalie Madelynne Sylvestre made 19 stops for the Jimmies. Each team was 0-of-1 on the power play.
UJ will again meet MSU on Saturday in Minot.
