LaMoure/Litchville-Marion threatened to run way early, taking a 19-10 second-quarter lead and holding the Warbirds without scoring for 4:09 to start the second quarter.
Jace Stenson countered for the Warbirds, scoring 11 first-half points, and Wyndmere-Lidgerwood cut the lead to 23-21 at the break.
L/L-M again led by nine in the third, powered by a 10-point frame from Avery Kramer, but Stenson kept pace, and W-L cut the lead to one late. The Loboes took a 44-39 lead to the fourth.
Kramer and Stenson continued their hot shooting in the fourth early. A three by W-L’s Blaise Frolek cut the lead to 53-51 with 3:08 left. Sebastian Kackman would hit a rebound-stickback to tie the game, and the final 1:36 would play without scoring, send the game to overtime.
There would be one field goal in the extra frame. Kackman broke the tie in favor of W-L with a foul shot, but Gunner Thielges grabbed an offensive rebound, scored, and was fouled, completing a three-point play with 1.5 seconds remaining to win the third-place finish.
Kramer finished with 23 for L/L-M, Gunner Thielges had 13, and Preston Arndt had 11 and 9 rebounds. Stenson had 19 for W-L, and Kackman recorded a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds.
May-Port-C-G 66, Valley City 58
The Patriots had a jump early, springing out to an 11-5 lead, but the Hi-Liners saw Finn Docktor hit a shot, and miss a bonus, sending a rebound right to Jack Dieterle, who scored and hit a bonus. Miken Mattson would hit a pair of threes in the second, sparking a 10-0 run that ran Valley City to a 26-18 lead.
May-Port-C-G would respond behind Bricker Johnson scoring 10 first-half points, and the Patriots would close the gap to 29-27 at the break.
However, Noah Djibonon had limited minutes in the first half due to foul trouble. He would make his presence known upon returning. Four field goals, including two threes and a three-point play. He sparked a 20-8 run to finish the quarter, with Jayd Larson scoring the final five points, and the Patriots took a sizey 53-41 lead to the fourth.
Djibonon would score his 20th on a step-back three early in the fourth, pushing the lead to 58-42 with 5:35 left.
Mattson, Djibonon, and Johnson were unanimous All-Tournament selections, as was Kackman from Wyndmere-Lidgerwood. Dieterle, Finn Docktor, and Weaver were also named to the All-Tournament team, as was Frolek from Wyndmere-Lidgerwood, Colby Thielges from LaMoure/Litchville-Marion, and Jayson Schlenker from Barnes County North.
