JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The developers of a solar panel farm gave a presentation to the Stutsman County Commission on January 7th.

A company spokesman with New Leaf Energy, William Dean said the estimated cost of the project is $370 million. He said once the solar project is completed it would generate 247 megawatts of power annually.

According to Dean, the solar panels would be constructed on 1,600 acres of land about seven miles north of Jamestown in Fried Township.

The proposed timetable to start construction is in 2028. The estimated completion of the total project would take about a year.

The agenda item was not voted on by the Stutsman County Board of Commissioners following the presentation by New Leaf Energy. The item will be discussed at a meeting in the future.
