JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KFGO) – A Jamestown man is in the Stutsman County Jail, accused of punching a woman in the face and hitting her with a hammer.

Police were called to an apartment building at 1323 10th Street SE on Jan. 18 for a report of an assault.

When officers arrived, a woman showed them bruises on her leg and hip, and a cut on her lip. She said Curtis Anderson had been assaulting her for the last few days.

The woman told officers Anderson punched her in the face and hit her with a hammer and a frying pan.

The woman went to the emergency room and a release of medical records from the doctor states “Curtis has a history of strangling [victim].”

Jamestown Police reviewed the doctor’s notes, which said Anderson held the woman down for at least five minutes in a choke hold, causing her to black out. The doctor wrote, “Curtis is going to kill her.”

Anderson is charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, terrorizing, assault, and two counts of criminal trespass.

A no trespass order had been in place against Anderson since April 2025 for the address police were called to.

Anderson’s initial court appearance was on Jan. 22.
