
MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO – 10th-ranked Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Women’s Hockey suffered more frustration against its conference rival Thursday.
In UJ’s first game of the Women’s Midwest Collegiate Hockey Showcase, the Jimmies lost 5-1 to second-ranked Midland at the Centene Community Ice Centre.
Five different players scored for the Warriors (22-2-0-2), who are now 4-0-0-1 this season against Jamestown (6-12-1-1).
Taylor Bell started the scoring for Midland at 13:23 of the first period, but Emma Durand’s sixth goal of the season, on the power play and assisted by Mikaela Nimitz, tied the game for the Jimmies at 15:48.
Molly McMurrich scored for Midland with 2:02 remaining in the period and Jordan Bell notched another just 56 seconds later and Midland led 3-1 at the first intermission.
Davanna Ditto scored shorthanded for the Warriors midway through the second period and Kennedy Wood scored just over five minutes into the third.
Midland outshot Jamestown 34-29. Jimmies goalie Lilah Drew played through the first period, making 11 saves. Madelynne Sylvestre took over in the final 40 minutes, stopping 18 shots.
Jamestown will face sixth-ranked Maryville on Friday.
