BURNSVILLE, MN – For its first season in NCAA Division II and NSIC baseball, the Jamestown Jimmies are 12th in the preseason coaches poll, released Thursday.

In 2025, Jamestown was 32-18 in its final season in NAIA play and was eliminated after two losses in the last NSAA tournament.

Chosen as the player and pitcher to watch from the Jimmies, respectively, were righthanded-hitting senior infielder Jett Nelson and righthanded reliever Ben Bohlmann.

Nelson hit .325 for the Jimmies in 2024 with 51 hits in 157 at-bats.  He had three home runs, a double, eight triples and 25 RBI.  He also stole two bases, had one sacrifice fly and one sacrifice bunt.

Bohlmann was UJ’s closer last season and is expected to be so again.  In 2025, he was 2-4 with a 2.22 ERA in 28 and a third innings.  Bohlmann struck out 42 and opponents batted just .147 against him.  He did not allow a run in nine of his 17 appearances.

Defending conference regular-season and tournament champion Minnesota State was first in the poll and received eight first-place votes.  The Mavericks were 36-4 in NSIC play in 2025.  Seven top votes went to Augustana, the regular-season champion in 2024 and ’23.

The Jimmies will open their 2026 schedule on Friday, February 13 with the first of a four-game series at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
