
CHESTERFIELD, MO – Two goals in the game’s first minute were enough for sixth-ranked Maryville University Friday in a 2-1 win over 10th-ranked Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Women’s Hockey in the Women’s Midwest Collegiate Hockey Showcase at the Maryville Hockey Center.
Haley Beckett scored just 28 seconds into the game for Maryville (14-7-0-0), followed by a goal by Aleiyah Sutton 25 seconds later.
The 2-0 lead for Maryville stood until Kiara Perrett scored her first goal for the Jimmies at 14:31 of the third period, assisted by Rebekah Nickisch.
Maryville outshot UJ 40-30. Madelynne Sylvestre gave up both first period goals in net for Jamestown and was pulled. Lilah Drew stopped all 38 Maryville shots she faced.
Jamestown will play Lindenwood Saturday in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
