MANDAN – Power play goals can make a big difference in a hockey game. They certainly did Saturday for Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey.
Both UJ goals came on the power play in a 2-1 win over UMary at the Schwan Cadillac Rink at the Starion Sports Complex to complete a home-&-home sweep.
Carson Brown scored his 14th goal at 2:29 of the first period for the Jimmies (18-11-1-0), assisted by Trey Stephenson. Again with a man advantage, Raymond Warrack’s fifth goal at 14:04 of the second made the UJ lead 2-0. Assists were from Matthew McIntyre and Jacob Thomas.
Dain Sardelli scored in the third period for UMary (20-10-0-0).
Goalie Brandon Weare, who shut out UMary in Jamestown on Friday, stopped 31 of 32 shots in goal.
Jamestown will play Waldorf Friday and Saturday in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
