MANKATO, MN – A weekend in Minnesota ended winless for Jamestown Jimmies Basketball.

Despite one strong quarter, the Jimmie women were routed by second-ranked Minnesota State 107-60.  The Maverick men then held off Jamestown 80-71 at Taylor Center.

The Mavericks (20-0, 14-0 NSIC) continued the best start in the program’s history with a victory that was never seriously in doubt.

Jamestown (4-14, 2-12) had an inspired second quarter, scoring 30 points, their highest total in any quarter this season, bringing them to a nine-point deficit late in the quarter. Minnesota State then continued to build their lead through the second half.

Natalie Bremer, the NSIC’s second leading scorer, scored 25 points with six rebounds. Hannah Herzig and Ana Stier tallied 14 points each.

Allie Berns and Haidyn Crockett scored 10 each for Jamestown, which endured its 11th consecutive loss. The Jimmies were forced into 35 turnovers, 22 of which came via steals by the Mavericks.

In the first six minutes of the first half, Jamestown (9-11, 7-7 NSIC) had as much as a four-point lead. But Minnesota State (13-9, 7-7) used a combined 58 points from Traijan Sain, Malcolm Jones and Arhman Lewis to win for the sixth straight time and extend the Jimmies’ losing streak to four.

Sain scored 24. Jones had 18 points and 10 rebounds. Lewis scored 16 with eight assists and five rebounds.

Anthony Walters scored 17 points with six rebounds for the Jimmies. Carson Woodford scored a career high 12 points. Ford Okehi contributed 10 points off the bench.

The next two weekends of play for the Jimmies will be at Harold Newman Arena, starting with a doubleheader Friday against Southwest Minnesota State. Coverage will begin Friday at 5:00 PM on The Voice of the Jimmies, Jamestown 107.1.  Live and archived video will be available on the NSIC Network.
