Rugby, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The Carrington girls wrestling team had 8 girls competing at the 2026 Rugby Boosters wrestling tournament and 4 finished in the top 8. Continuing a spectacular senior season, Khendra Garcia (2 seed) won the 148 pound title over Maycee Boyce (number 1 seed) of Minot 9-3. Boyce would get a first period takedown and would lead 3-2 until late in the third period when Garcia would get a takedown with 34 seconds remaining and added 4 near-fall points to close out the title match. Garcia received 2 byes into the semifinals where she defeated third seeded Kenley Hamley of Turtle Mountain Community high school (TMCHS)by fall at 1:40. The Cards scored 73 team points and finished in 11th place overall in the field of 24 teams. TMCHS won the tournament with 196.5 points just ahead of runner-up Minot with 194.5 points. Bismarck Century (149), Bismarck Legacy (119), Williston (109), Kenmare-Bowbells-BC (106.5), Harvey-WC (104.5), Devils Lake (104), Pembina County North (98.5), and Rugby (85) rounded out the top 10.

Other Cardinal placers included Madalina Ciubotareanu (148) finishing 3-2 overall and 4th place, Nevaeh Sorenson (190) 1-2, finished 5th, and Alayna Gussiaas (106) 2-3 finished in 8th place. The Carrington girls will compete in Casselton next Friday night (duals) and Saturday (individual tournament).
