
BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Republican Jill Kringstad announced her campaign for the North Dakota Public Service Commission, seeking to continue her work on the Commission after being appointed to the position by Gov. Kelly Armstrong in January 2025.
“North Dakota’s role in national energy security, dependable utilities, and strong agricultural and industrial sectors depends on stable, common-sense regulation,” said Kringstad. “I’m running to build on the progress we’ve made defending affordable, reliable energy, ensuring fair utility practices, and maintaining strong oversight of critical infrastructure that supports our families, farms, and businesses while balancing the needs of landowners and citizens of North Dakota.”
As Public Service Commissioner, Kringstad oversees key portfolios including pipeline and electric transmission siting, gas economic regulation, and railroad safety. She also serves as North Dakota’s liaison to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) and the Organization of MISO States (OMS), ensuring the state’s voice is heard in regional grid and transmission planning decisions.
A native of Bismarck, Kringstad is a Certified Public Accountant with experience in both the public and private sectors. She served as an intern for U.S. Sen. John Hoeven and U.S. Rep. Rick Berg.
Jill and her husband, Ben , a teacher and coach at New Salem-Almont High School reside in Bismarck with their three children and remains active in community and civic life.
