JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Blue Jay Boys Hockey Head Coach Jake Stilwell was worried his team may have some rust as it hosted Minot United at Wilson Arena on Tuesday night.
Due to weather and illness, Jamestown hadn’t played a game in 11 days.
Despite the lack of games, the Jays showed no rust and came out of the gates with lots of energy and focus and defeated the first place team in the West Region 3-2.
Gavin Schafer scored his third goal of the season, Parker Roelfsema netted his 10th and John Belzer smacked in his sixth of the season.
Roelfsema also added an assist. Brady Nenow, Bennett Goehner and Braxton Burkett also chipped in with assists.
Goalie Leif Hanson made 22 saves, including some huge stops down the stretch to preserve the win.
Jamestown improves to 9-2 in the west and 9-3 overall. Minot slips to 12-2 in the west region and 14-4 overall.
Next up for the Jays is a trip to Bismarck Friday to meet Legacy, the number two team in the WDA, in another huge showdown.
