CARRINGTON (NewsDakota)- The Carrington girls basketball team took their only region loss in December when they traveled to Hillsboro/Central Valley.  Since, the Cards had won nine straight entering the rematch with the Burros.

And they made sure there was no repeat performance.

Aniston Hoornaert and Marah Johnson combined for 37 points as the Cardinals rolled to their tenth straight victory, 44-23, on Saturday inside the East Gymnasium.

The first quarter was a complete rock fight, with both teams making only one field goal as Carrington (12-3, 9-1) led 8-5.  In the second, Hoornaert scored seven of her twenty points and the Cards led 17-13 at the half.

But in the second half, the Cards took over behind a huge half from Johnson, who scored thirteen of her seventeen after the break as Carrington led by as many as 26.  Rayna Betner scored eight of her team high ten points in the fourth quarter for the Burros (9-8, 4-6).

Carrington face a pair of road tests next, first at Devils Lake on Monday with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal beginning at around 6:45pm.
