ALBERT LEA, MN – Jacob Thomas scored twice Friday with Brad Fortin and Jordan Baranesky each adding a goal and two assists as seventh-ranked Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey skated past Waldorf 8-1 at the Albert Lea City Arena.

Dominic Toews put Waldorf (13-12-1-0) into an early lead with a goal at 5:03 of the first period.

Thomas responded with his two goals later in the period in a span of 2:40 for the Jimmies (19-11-1-0).  Baranesky and Wyatt Thompson set up Thomas’ tying goal at 14:12, then he scored the lead goal at 16:52 from Trey Stephenson and Baranesky.

In the second period, Jamestown put the game away with three goals in just 1:54.  The first two were shorthanded, by Darius Makse, from Fortin, at 10:34 and by Fortin at 11:12.  Tanner McCracken scored for a 5-1 Jimmie lead at 12:28 from Matthew McIntyre and Carter Johnson.

Jamestown then tallied three more times in the third period.  Kaelan Shelton scored at 4:04 from Fortin and Wyatt Johnson.  Baranesky popped in a power play goal at 10:09.  Carter Johnson scored another power play marker at 17:26 from Stephenson.

The Jimmies outshot the Warriors 51-24.  Brandon Weare made 23 saves in the Jamestown goal.

UJ will meet Waldorf again on Saturday in Albert Lea.
