JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Women’s Hockey has had big games before, but never as big as the one on Sunday.

Bethany Wielgosh scored her second career hat trick and Jaeda Clayton scored twice as Jamestown set a program record for goals in a 12-0 win over Minnesota at Wilson Arena.

The previous program record was 10 goals, which the Jimmies (8-13-1-1) tied with a 10-1 win over the Gophers on Saturday.

Clayton began the scoring at 4:24 of the first period, assisted by Jayden Baker.  Emma Durand made the Jimmie lead 2-0 nine minutes into the game from Lana Cipriano and Mackenzie Couling.

Clayton scored her second goal at 12:19, set up by Gabriella Schroeder.  Baker scored with 1:58 remaining, assisted by Schroder and Couling, and Jamestown led 4-0 after the first period.

Wielgosh had a huge second period.  She scored, assisted by Durand twice, at 4:54 and 8:28.  Maddison Andrew made the Jimmie lead 7-0 at 15:44 from Samantha Beaulac and Wielgosh.  Bethany then completed the hat trick at 16:57, with goal assisted by Durand and Couling.  Kiara Perrett scored at 18:12 from Andrew and Rebekah Nickisch and Jamestown led 9-0 after 40 minutes.

Couling scored from Amick at 4:04 of the third period.  Cipriano scored at 14:24 to set the program record and for an 11-0 lead.  Mallory Docktor scored only 22 seconds later for the game’s last goal, set up by Jayden Carels.

UJ goalie Britlyn Rasmussen had to make just five saves for the shutout and Jamestown outshot Minnesota 45-5.

The Jimmies will play Friday against Midland in Fremont, Nebraska.
