VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSU) – Valley City State University will relocate its final two home basketball games and three high school tournaments due to floor damage at the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse.

The south end of the basketball court sustained water damage due to a leak in the HVAC system in January. VCSU has been working closely with entities to identify a resolution. Unfortunately, due to the extent of the damage and the timing of the required repairs, it is not possible to complete work on the impacted areas in time to host the remaining basketball events.

Viking Basketball was scheduled to have its final home games on February 20-21. Those games will be relocated to Memorial Auditorium at Concordia College in Moorhead. Friday’s games will be played at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday’s game times are not yet finalized. The basketball teams will also be celebrating their seniors on Saturday, the 21st in the
game versus Rocky Mountain College.

VCSU was also scheduled to host three district and regional high school basketball tournaments. A contingency plan to relocate those events has been in the works and will be announced soon.

A plan to fully repair the fieldhouse floor will be implemented later this spring. The existing HVAC system was already scheduled for replacement as part of a major addition to the athletic complex that is currently under construction.
