The Valley City Hi-Liners dropped their 10th straight game Tuesday, falling to the Central Cass Squirrels 88-26.

Valley City was without leading scorer Miken Mattson, who missed the game due to illness. Central Cass took full advantage, racing away early and never looking back. Kash Lorenz led the Squirrels with 24 points in just over two quarters of action, while Valley City was led by Jack Samuelson and Jack Dieterle, who finished with eight points apiece.

The Squirrels did the bulk of their damage across the middle quarters, outscoring the Hi-Liners 55-8 in the second and third quarters combined. Central Cass showcased its depth throughout the night, receiving scoring contributions from 13 different players and averaging 22 points per quarter.

Valley City struggled to generate offense, managing an average of just 6.5 points per quarter in the loss.

The Hi-Liners will look to snap their losing streak when they return to action Feb. 9 against the Northern Cass Jaguars.
