JAMESTOWN – Taking games to the wire has been the early norm for 2026 Jamestown Jimmies Softball.
After a comeback one-run win to complete a doubleheader sweep of the University of Providence Thursday, the Jimmies won two games by a run each Friday. Jamestown is 4-0 after a 7-6 win over UMary and a 5-4 victory over Northern State, both inside the Nelson Family Bubble.
Though both games were against NSIC opponents, they were non-conference games.
Jamestown 7, UMary 6
Down 2-1 to UMary (2-4) entering the third inning, Jamestown scored three runs in that frame on RBI singles by Sydney Grendler, Natalie Draper and Kate Geiszler for a 4-2 lead.
Madelyn Webb made the UJ lead 5-3 with an RBI double in the fourth.
UMary scored two in the home fourth to tie the game, but the Jimmies responded when Trinity Gregg gave them a 6-5 lead in the top of the fifth with an RBI infield single.
Gregg doubled in a run in the seventh for the last Jimmie tally.
Abby Blair (1-0) pitched her 24th complete game as a Jimmie, allowing six runs and 10 hits while striking out six and walking two.
Jamestown 5, Northern State 4
A four-run fourth inning sent the Jimmies to the lead for good against the Wolves (1-1). Amanda Burch tied the game at 3-3 with a two-run double, then Peyton Quam singled in the go-ahead run. Gregg then drove in the fourth run of the inning with a single.
Lauren Weigel drove in the first Jamestown run with a first inning double.

The Jimmies will complete their first weekend of play by meeting VCSU Saturday at 4:30 PM inside the Nelson Family Bubble.
