JAMESTOWN – For a time, the chance for a win into to move back into a place for a possible state tournament berth was there for Jamestown Blue Jays Girls Hockey.  Then, West Fargo United throttled those chances.

West Fargo United scored the last six goals Thursday to erase a 3-1 deficit and defeat Jamestown 7-3 at Wilson Arena.

Their sixth straight loss leaves Jamestown (4-10-1-2, 4-10-0-2 League) with 14 points, two points behind eighth place and the last spot in the state tournament, with six games remaining.

Bailey Skarphol scored just over five minutes into the game for West Fargo United (9-8-0-1, 9-7-0-1) before a power play goal by Izzy Maddock tied the game for the Blue Jays at 10:28 of the first period.  She was assisted by Layni Bakalar and Stella Belzer.

At 12:34, Maddy Roaldson gave the Blue Jays the lead with assists by Maddock and Layla Becker.  Jamestown led 2-1 after one period.

Anna Lunde widened the Jamestown lead to 3-1 with a power play goal from Layni Bakalar at 1:13 of the second period, but the Blue Jays would score no more.

Riley Ruud scored at 14:08 of the second period and regain the lead at 4-3 for West Fargo United.

Payton Stocker, Kaylee Augdahl and Reaghan Mathias scored for WFU in the third period.

Blue Jays’ goalie Ady Bakalar made 22 saves.  West Fargo United had 29 shots to Jamestown’s 24.

The Blue Jays will play Friday at Grand Forks.
