CASSELTON (NewsDakota)- It is hard to have a thirteen-game winning streak in basketball, because so much has to go right just to win a game in the first place.  But Carrington has pulled it off in back-to-back seasons.

Marah Johnson led four in double figures and the Cardinals never trailed in a 65-54 win over Central Cass on Saturday to extend their winning streak to a bakers’ dozen for a second straight campaign.

The Cardinals (15-3), much like Thursday against Thompson, started fast with a 9-0 run in the first three minutes, but the Squirrels (8-9) rallied with an 11-2 run to tie the game at eleven.  But Carrington scored the next eight points of the game, and it was never tied again.  Johnson hit two first-half threes as the Cardinals took a 32-27 lead into halftime.

The second half saw the Cardinals extend the lead to as much as sixteen with Harper Kollman scoring eight of her twelve after the break, and Carrington converted 19-of-25 from the free throw line in matching their season high in points, and while the Squirrels got to within three once, they never got closer.  Freshman Kenley Haug led Central Cass with fifteen points.

The Cards return home on Tuesday night, hosting May-Port CG in the final Region 2A game of the regular season.  With a win, Carrington will earn the 1-seed in the Regional Tournament in Devils Lake.  Coverage on KDAK The Cardinal & YouTube begins at around 6:45pm.
