JAMESTOWN – On Senior Day for Jamestown Jimmies Basketball, the Jimmie women got in a hole and couldn’t quite recover, then the men kept a share of a division lead.

Minnesota Crookston defeated the UJ women for the second time this season, 86-78 on Saturday at Harold Newman Arena.  The Jimmie men came back from 10 points down to defeat the Golden Eagles 84-77 to stay tied for the lead in the NSIC North Division.

Women: Minnesota Crookston 86, Jamestown 78
Minnesota Crookston (7-17, 6-12 NSIC) had five double-figure scorers and built as much as a 22-point lead before holding off a rally by Jamestown (6-16, 4-14).

Riley Jenkins scored 18 for the Golden Eagles with two three-pointers. Rayna Klejeski had 17. Anna Westby scored 16. Emma Miller dropped in 15 and Hope Dudycha scored 10.

Allie Berns had her first collegiate double-double with career highs of 34 points and 10 rebounds for the Jimmies. Haidyn Crockett scored 15 points.

Minnesota Crookston shot 61 percent from the floor in the first half while taking a 49-34 halftime lead. After the Golden Eagles led 62-40 late in the third quarter, the Jimmies were as close as seven in the final two minutes, but their two-game winning streak ended.

Minnesota Crookston moved into a tie for 12th in the NSIC women’s standings with the win.

Men: Jamestown 84, Minnesota Crookston 77
Five scored in double figures for Jamestown (12-12, 10-8 NSIC) as the Jimmies came from 10 points down to remain in a tie for the NSIC North lead with Northern State. The Jimmies and Wolves have a one-game lead over Minnesota Duluth with four games remaining.

Thomas Diew had his best offensive game for UJ, scoring 18 points and pulling down six rebounds. Anthony Walters had 17. Cole Glasgow scored 12. Ford Okehi and Davis Walker each totaled 11 points.

Spencer Swenson had 23 points and 12 rebounds for Minnesota Crookston, who led 41-31 after a Swenson jumper with 2:20 left in the first half. Jamestown then scored the last eight points of the first half and 11 of the first 15 points in the second half. Minnesota Crookston was as close as four points, but Jamestown held on.
