
JAMESTOWN – A blanking meant a move up.
Jamestown Blue Jays Boys Hockey moved into third place in the WDA standings Saturday with a 4-0 win over Bismarck at Wilson Arena.
The Blue Jays (12-5-0-0, 11-4-0-0 WDA) had four different goal scorers and Leif Hanson made 17 saves for his fourth shutout of the season and fifth as a Blue Jay.
Bennett Goehner scored the first of Jamestown’s two power play goals at 3:11 of the first period from Braxton Burkett and Brady Anderson.
Only 51 seconds into the second period, Parker Roelfsema stretched the Jamestown lead to 2-0 from Mason Gumke and John Bezler.
Gavin Schafer, set up by Brady Nenow, tallied at 11:45 of the second period and JHS led 3-0 after 34 minutes.
Burkett scored on the power play with just 43 seconds remaining in the game, assisted by Belzer and Roelfsema.
Jamestown had 41 shots to Bismarck’s 17.
With 33 points, the Blue Jays lead fourth-place Mandan by two points.
Jamestown will play Century Tuesday at the VFW Sports Center.
