
BURNSVILLE, MN – Jamestown Jimmies Women’s Basketball freshman Allie Berns showed again this past weekend why she is becoming one of NSIC women’s basketball’s top young players.
For the second time this season, Berns was named to the conference’s “Shining 5” list, highlighting excellent individual performances from the division players of the week plus three other players.
In last week’s two Jimmie games, Berns averaged 27 points and 8.5 rebounds. Berns scored 17 of her game-high 20 points in the second half Thursday in a comeback 65-58 home win over MSU Moorhead. She also had seven rebounds. On Saturday, Berns recorded her first collegiate double-double with career highs of 34 points and 10 rebounds in an 86-78 loss to Minnesota Crookston.
In the two games, Berns shot 63 percent from the field (24-for-38). She is tied for 15th in conference scoring at 14.7 points per game and also is averaging 5.4 rebounds. Berns is shooting 52 percent on field goals, which is fourth in the Northern Sun. Her 19 blocked shots have her tied for ninth in the conference.
