KENSAL (NewsDakota)- On January 10, the Carrington boys took on the Griggs/Midkota Titans in the consolation final of the Ramsey County Tournament in Devils Lake and defeated the Titans 53-45.
On Monday night, the two teams got together again, and astonishingly, Carrington prevailed 53-45 for their fifth win of the season.
The Cards (5-12) started well, with Taylen Mehring and Alec Threadgold combining for eleven first quarter points as Carrington led 16-11 through one. The Cardinals had a size mismatch and the inside/outside combo of Threadgold and Mehring stayed hot, scoring twenty by halftime, but the Titans (3-11) used balanced scoring to stay within eight at the half.
The second half started with Carrington extending out to a thirteen point lead before a rally behind Dominic Ressler, who had ten for Griggs/Midkota, but the Cards answered each run and closed out the game without trailing at any point.
Carrington are back in action Thursday on the road at #1 Four Winds-Minnewaukan with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal beginning at around 6:45pm.
