MINNEWAUKAN (NewsDakota)- On Wednesday, the NDAPSSA unanimously voted Four Winds-Minnewaukan boys basketball number one in Class A.
But for one half on Thursday, the Cardinal boys hung right with them. Eventually though, number one rolled on.
After pummeling Devils Lake on Tuesday, the Indians recovered from a slow start to get past Carrington 60-30 on Thursday night for their fourteenth straight win.
The Cards (5-13, 0-10 Region 2A) started very well defensively, mixing looks and forcing one-and dones, and with Tate Wolsky and Maddox McIlonie draining threes, Carrington led 10-6. But a 9-0 run for the Indians (15-1, 12-0 Region 2A) gave the home side a five point advantage at the end of the first. In the second, Joran Lohnes scored seven of his team-high eleven for FW-M, who took a 29-18 lead to the locker room.
The Cards offense struggled more after halftime, as the team only made five field goals after halftime, allowing the Indians to pull away through a balanced scoring effort, as seven players had between six and eleven points.
Carrington return to action Thursday night at home against Medina/Pingree-Buchanan with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal on YouTube beginning at around 6:45pm.
