
Valley City, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington girls wrestling team finished with 112 team points and tenth place at the 2026 East Region wrestling tournament. Lisbon would win the 24 team field with 218.5 points outpacing runner-up Grand Forks with 199.5. Rounding out the top ten were Central Cass (133.5), South Border (132.5), Pembina County North (130,5), West Fargo United (126), Valley City (121), Fargo (117), Devils Lake (113), and Carrington (112).
The Cards will send 6 girls to the state individual tournament next week in Fargo. Khendra Garcia turned in another great performance with a championship at 148 pounds. Garcia (31-2), defeated Brynlee Hartsoch of West Fargo United 7-3 in the title match. Garcia was defeated by Hartsoch 2 weeks ago at the Belle of the Brawl tournament in Casselton. Garcia entered the tournament as the number 2 seed behind Hartsoch and received 2 byes into the quarterfinals where she defeated Alyssa Hines of Grand Forks by fall at :51 seconds of the first period. Garcia would defeat Aulani Long, also from Grand Forks, by fall at 3:45 of the second period to reach the finals. Madalina Ciubotareanu (32-12) would finish the day 3-2 and finish in fourth place at 142 pounds. All three of Ciubotareanu’s wins were by fall. Grace Inglish (24-19) entered the tournament seeded eighth and would finish in fifth place at 100 pounds going 4-2 with a fall over Melina Rebsom of Lisbon at 5:07 in the fifth place match. Nevaeh Sorensen (13-27) finished the tournament with a 3-2 record and finishing in fifth place at the 190 pound weight class. Sorensen was seeded sixth and picked up a fall over Hannah Garza of Devils Lake in :38 seconds in the fifth place match. Juliet Davis (118 pounds) was unseeded and finished in 7th place to advance to the state tournament. Davis would defeat teammate Adisyn Vandehoven(12-20) in sudden victory overtime 8-5 in the blood round to advance to the state tournament. Davis would win her seventh place match by fall over Jelaine Reardon of West Fargo United at 3:18 of the second period. Alayna Gussiaas (18-26) would finish in eighth place at 106 pounds. Unseeded coming into the tournament, Gussiaas would go 2-3 on the day to advance to the state tournament. Linda Yuja (124), Kenzie Jost (130), and Adisyn Vandehoven all lost in the blood round, missing the state tourney by 1 win. Aysa Reimchke-Vandehoven (100), Lola Brewer (130), and Hadley Volk (136) also competed but did not place. The Cards will compete next Thursday and Friday at the Fargo Dome at the 2026 state tournament with all action on AM 1600 KDAK THE CARDINAL, FM 100.1, and at www.newsdakota.com
