This concert is a collaboration between the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra and the Bridges Arts Council as part of the Small Stages Concert Series to make classical music accessible to audiences. The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra (FMSO) was officially chartered in 1931 as the Fargo Civic Orchestra, evolving from a 1912 ensemble led by Harry Rudd. Over its 90+ year history, the professional orchestra has featured conductors including Sigvald Thompson, J. Robert Hanson, Joel Revzen, and Bernard Rubenstein, Chris Zimmerman offering classical and modern performances. For their 75th anniversary in 2007, the orchestra commissioned and premiered Peter Schickele’s Prairie Skies. The FMSO relies on a mix of local and regional talent, including musicians from area colleges. It is known for its Master Works concert series and Symphony Rocks concert.
